Date August 28, 2025 (Thursday)
Venue Ground Floor, Asia School of Business (Academic Building)
Notes docs.google.com

Open Tech Camp is a one-day unconference bringing together technologists, activists, social entrepreneurs, academics, and human rights defenders from across Asia-Pacific. It is a collaborative learning space focused on open technology for social good.

Attendance
Over 470 people registered for the tech camp via the DRAPAC website. We expect fewer than half to attend in person and attendance will be capped at 200. Please arrive early to check in and you can buy breakfast at Ben’s on the First Floor – nasi lemak, mee siam, and roti canai are available.

We will start at 9:30am. Please bring your DRAPAC25 name badge. If you don’t already have one, we’ll provide a blank badge for you to fill in.

Venue
The main meeting point for the tech camp is at Demo Lab 1, ASBhive. To get there from the AICB Building, exit from the main doors at the South Lobby (opposite Azman Hashim Auditorium). Then, cross the road and enter the basement carpark at the Asia School of Business Academic Building. Use one of the lifts to go up to the Ground Floor.

We will use Demo Lab 1, Demo Lab 2, and the open spaces at ASBhive for the tech camp sessions.

Programme
Open Tech Camp is an unconference. This means we will set the agenda together at the start of the tech camp. We will use the draft schedule as a starting point. Similar session ideas could be combined and expanded.

Every session must start and end within the allocated 50-minute slot. There is a 10-minute buffer in between sessions for everyone to take a micro break and get ready for the next session. There are no long breaks apart from lunch in the middle of the day.

If this is your first unconference experience, come with an open mind and heart. We will rely on everyone to self-organise and move things with agility and flow. Expect some degree of disorganised order (or organised disorder).

Food
We will have some snacks for everyone to share. Pizzas will be ready for lunch at 1–1:50pm.

Please bring your own water bottle or tumbler. Drinking water dispensers are available at the venue.

Please note that food is not allowed inside the Demo Labs. Dispose of rubbish properly and clean up after yourself.

Collaborative pad
We will use Google Docs to organise collaborative pads for all sessions. Everyone can contribute by taking notes together.

If you are a session driver/facilitator/lead, you can prepare a set of prompts or an outline for discussion in the collaborative pad for your session. If you have a presentation deck, upload it online and link it in the collaborative pad. If you want people to keep in touch with you after the tech camp, share your email, Signal, website, or other contact details that you can share publicly.

Anyone with the link can access the collaborative pads. Please don’t share private details or sensitive information that could put you or others at risk.

Please bring your own laptop or tablet computer for the tech camp as we may not have enough large projectors or screens for all sessions. We will rely on the collaborative pad to share materials with each other.

Code of conduct
Please observe the DRAPAC Community Code of Conduct: https://drapac.net/codex/#code
– no discrimination, no harassment (including sexual harassment), no abuse of authority.
